The rumours are true - 2022 is going to be a big year for Ford! The brand will be adding a host of new trucks and vans to its award-winning lineup, including the all-electric Ford Lightning, the all-electric Ford Transit, and the much-anticipated Ford Maverick hybrid pickup truck. So what does the Maverick bring to the Ford lineup, and who is most likely to fall in love with this exciting new truck (besides, you know, everyone)? Let’s find out!
“Versatile and capable. Built for makers and doers. Stunningly fuel-efficient and built for tough. It’s the truck for people who never knew they needed a truck.”
Ford Motor Company
In a nutshell, the new Ford Maverick is a compact hybrid pickup truck that serves as an important addition to the lineup as Ford continues to move into being a (mostly) car-free brand. The 2.5L hybrid engine is standard, and delivers 191-hp with a 4,000-pound towing capacity. The Maverick sips just 5.9 litres of gas per 100 km of city driving, and you’ll get as much as 800 km out of a single tank - most cars on the road can’t compete with fuel economy this impressive.
In true Ford fashion, you’ll have plenty of options available to you so you can customize to your heart’s content, including a 2.0L turbocharged engine, several popular trims (XL, XLT, and Lariat), a Tow package, technology and safety upgrades, and more.
Compact pickup trucks are quickly growing in popularity, and the small-truck movement has spurred the creation of models like the Maverick and Hyundai’s new Santa Cruz. So how compact is “compact?” The Maverick is smaller than the mid-size Ford Ranger but larger than Ford SUVs like the Explorer, and comes with a 4.5-foot bed and 4-door crew cab. It’s the perfect balance between being lightweight and agile, and Built Ford Tough.
Don’t be fooled by its size - this mini-machine can still be counted on to get the job done. Every inch of space is maximized with function in mind, and has been consumer tested to ensure that you can easily do everything from neatly stacking plywood in the bed to comfortably fitting two car seats in the rear. With a 1,500-pound payload, 12-volt power outlet in the bed, and storage solutions galore in the cabin, the Maverick is a confident lil’ ally from the job site to hockey practice, and everywhere in between.
Well… yes! We are incredibly excited to introduce the Maverick to our Lange & Fetter customers, as it opens up the possibility of truck ownership to a whole new group of drivers. As Ford says, “it’s the truck for people who never knew they needed a truck.” Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver for drivers who feel intimidated about driving a big ol’ truck, but with a laundry list of useful features, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without a pickup.
Take the Maverick’s versatile Flexbed system, for example. It’s been designed to suit a range of uses you didn’t even know you needed until now, including tie-downs, a multi-position tailgate, power outlets, and vertical and horizontal slots that can serve as bed dividers, a workbench, or even transform your truck bed into a bike rack. Inside, the smooth ride and ambient lighting are enough to lull the baby to sleep while you cruise around the Bay of Quinte Region, and hidden storage compartments will help keep the kids organized in the back seat. Looking to buy yourself a retirement gift? Maverick sits nice and low to the ground, making entry and exit a breeze, while classic Ford styling screams “luxury” at every turn - plus you’ll have just the right amount of space in the truck bed to stay busy with DIY projects.
The cherry on the sundae? Maverick’s low starting price ensures that both green technology and truck ownership are available to everyone.
